Ginsenosides are the major active compounds found in ginseng (Panax ginseng), a medicinal herb widely used in traditional Asian medicine. Scientific studies have investigated ginsenosides for their potential to support the male reproductive system, particularly in relation to erectile function, sperm quality, and overall sexual health. Multiple animal and human studies suggest that ginsenosides can enhance nitric oxide synthesis, leading to improved vasodilation and erectile function. Some clinical trials have demonstrated that men with mild to moderate erectile dysfunction experienced improved sexual performance after taking ginseng extracts standardized for ginsenosides. Additionally, preclinical studies indicate that ginsenosides may improve sperm motility and count, possibly due to antioxidant effects and modulation of reproductive hormones.

However, while these findings are promising, the quality and size of human studies are variable. Meta-analyses and reviews highlight that, although there is a positive trend, more rigorous, large-scale clinical trials are needed to conclusively establish efficacy. Nonetheless, the current body of evidence does indicate a plausible scientific basis for the use of ginsenosides in supporting male reproductive health, with effects observed both in laboratory and clinical settings. Thus, the use of ginsenosides for this purpose is supported by moderate scientific evidence.
