Reishi mushroom (Ganoderma lucidum) has a long history of use in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) for promoting general health, longevity, and vitality rather than specifically targeting menopause. In TCM, Reishi is considered an adaptogen believed to help balance body systems and reduce stress, which can indirectly support some menopausal symptoms such as mood swings and sleep disturbances. However, there are no strong historical records that specifically associate Reishi with menopause management, and its use for this indication is more extrapolated from its general health-promoting reputation.
Scientific evidence supporting Reishi for menopause is very limited. Only a few preliminary studies (mostly in vitro or animal models) have explored the effects of Reishi on hormonal balance or menopausal symptoms, and results are inconclusive.
