Synopsis

Source of validity: Traditional
Rating (out of 5): 1

Eleutheroside refers to a group of compounds found in Eleutherococcus senticosus (Siberian ginseng), a plant used in traditional medicine systems, particularly in Russia and China. Traditionally, Siberian ginseng has been used as an adaptogen to enhance stamina, vitality, and resistance to physical stress, including fatigue and weakness. In some folk and traditional herbal practices, it has been recommended for improving general physical performance, which may implicitly include muscle tone or the feeling of muscular strength. However, there is little direct traditional documentation specifically linking Eleutheroside or Siberian ginseng to the treatment of muscle tone deficiency (hypotonia). Rather, its use for "muscle tone" is a secondary extension of its broader traditional use for improving overall energy and resilience. Scientific studies on Eleutheroside focus mainly on its adaptogenic, immunomodulatory, and anti-fatigue effects, but there is a lack of robust clinical trials directly supporting its efficacy for increasing or restoring muscle tone specifically. Therefore, the evidence for using Eleutheroside to support or treat muscle tone is weak and based primarily on traditional uses for enhancing physical endurance and combating fatigue, with very limited direct support.
