Testolone (RAD140) is a selective androgen receptor modulator (SARM) that has been studied for its effects on muscle mass and strength. Unlike anabolic steroids, Testolone selectively targets androgen receptors in muscle and bone tissues, promoting muscle growth with fewer off-target effects. Preclinical studies in animal models have demonstrated that RAD140 can increase lean muscle mass and improve muscle strength. Early phase human clinical trials have shown promising results in increasing muscle mass and improving physical function, particularly in populations at risk for muscle wasting, such as those with cancer-related cachexia or age-related sarcopenia. However, as of 2024, large-scale, long-term human studies are still lacking, and Testolone is not approved by regulatory agencies for clinical use in muscle-wasting disorders. Its use remains experimental, and it is banned by most sports organizations. While the available evidence suggests a significant scientific rationale for Testolone's effects on muscle tone and mass, more research is needed to fully establish its safety and efficacy in humans over the long term.
