Several studies have shown that collagen peptides may improve joint pain and function, especially in athletes or individuals with degenerative joint conditions, which can indirectly support muscle function by enhancing movement and reducing discomfort during exercise.

However, direct evidence of bovine-derived substances increasing muscle mass or strength is less robust. Some clinical trials report that collagen supplementation, when combined with resistance training, leads to slightly greater increases in muscle mass and strength compared to placebo, possibly due to improved connective tissue health or bioactive peptides influencing muscle metabolism.
