Lentein is a plant-based protein ingredient derived from water lentils (commonly of the genus Lemna or Wolffia). Its use to support the muscles body system is based on its high protein content and favorable amino acid profile, including essential amino acids that are important for muscle protein synthesis. Several in vitro analyses and compositional studies have shown that Lentein contains a protein content of up to 45%, with a digestibility and amino acid score comparable to other plant proteins such as pea or soy.[1][2]
Although there is a lack of large-scale human clinical trials directly linking Lentein consumption to improved muscle mass or athletic performance, its high-quality protein content is considered supportive of muscle maintenance and growth when included as part of a balanced diet. Scientific validation at this stage is therefore indirect, stemming from established knowledge about dietary protein's role in muscle health, rather than direct intervention studies with Lentein itself.[3] The ingredient is relatively new, and research is ongoing, but current evidence supports its use primarily on the basis of its nutritional profile rather than traditional or anecdotal use.
