Chitin-glucan is a natural polysaccharide complex derived primarily from fungi or the exoskeletons of crustaceans. It is composed of chitin and beta-glucan, both of which have been studied for their immunomodulatory properties. Peyer’s patches are lymphoid tissues in the small intestine that play a crucial role in gut immune surveillance and response. Scientific studies, particularly in animal models, have shown that dietary supplementation with chitin-glucan can positively influence gut immunity. For example, research published in peer-reviewed journals indicates that chitin-glucan can stimulate the activity of immune cells associated with Peyer’s patches, enhance the production of secretory IgA (a key antibody in gut immunity), and promote beneficial shifts in gut microbiota composition that are linked to improved mucosal immune function.

While these findings provide a mechanistic rationale for supporting gut-associated lymphoid tissue (including Peyer’s patches), most evidence comes from preclinical studies (e.g., rodents, in vitro models). Human data are limited, though some small clinical trials suggest chitin-glucan may modulate immune markers. Thus, the use of chitin-glucan to support Peyer’s patches is scientifically plausible and partially validated, but further well-designed human studies are needed to fully establish efficacy and dosage guidelines.
