Decursin is a major bioactive compound found in the roots of Angelica gigas Nakai, a traditional medicinal herb used in East Asian medicine. Recent scientific studies have begun to explore its potential role in supporting prostate health, particularly in relation to prostate cancer and benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Preclinical research, including in vitro and animal studies, has shown that decursin and its derivatives can inhibit the growth and proliferation of prostate cancer cells. For example, decursin has been observed to induce apoptosis (programmed cell death) and cell cycle arrest in human prostate cancer cell lines, potentially through modulation of androgen receptor signaling and other molecular pathways. Some animal studies suggest that decursin can suppress tumor growth in prostate cancer xenograft models.

However, clinical evidence in humans remains limited. While the preclinical data are promising and provide a scientific rationale for its use in supporting prostate health, there are currently no large-scale, high-quality clinical trials confirming its efficacy or safety for this purpose in humans. Therefore, the evidence supporting decursin’s use for the prostate system is primarily based on laboratory and animal studies, with insufficient data from human trials to draw definitive conclusions. Ongoing research may further clarify its role, but for now, the scientific support is moderate.
