Traditional practitioners have used its leaves, latex, and extracts topically to alleviate inflammation, itching, and redness associated with dermatological issues. The plant is believed to possess anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and analgesic properties, which may contribute to its effectiveness reported in folk medicine.

However, scientific validation for these uses remains limited. Only a few preliminary studies have investigated the anti-inflammatory and wound healing potential of Calotropis gigantea extracts in animal models and in vitro.
