Geranium (Pelargonium spp.), particularly the essential oil derived from its leaves and flowers, has a longstanding history in traditional herbal and folk medicine for treating various skin conditions, including rashes and hives. Traditional systems, especially in Europe, Africa, and parts of Asia, have used geranium preparations topically for their purported anti-inflammatory, astringent, and antimicrobial properties.
