Bacteria, specifically beneficial strains known as probiotics, have significant scientific validation for supporting the health of the rectum and the broader lower gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The rectum is the terminal segment of the large intestine, and its health is closely tied to the balance of the gut microbiota. Probiotics, such as species from the genera Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, are well-studied for their role in maintaining and restoring healthy microbial communities within the colon and rectum.
