Schizonepeta (Schizonepeta tenuifolia), also known as Jing Jie, is an herb commonly used in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Its primary traditional uses are to dispel wind, release the exterior (help with early stage colds and flu), and alleviate itching and skin eruptions. Within the TCM framework, it is sometimes employed to address issues such as nasal congestion, sore throat, and headaches, which can affect the sensory organs (such as the nose, ears, and eyes). However, these uses are grounded in traditional concepts rather than modern anatomical or physiological understanding of the "Senses" body system.

There is only limited scientific research on schizonepeta’s effects, and what exists mostly concerns its anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and antimicrobial properties in vitro or in animal models. There is little direct evidence specifically supporting its use for maintaining or improving the health of the senses (sight, hearing, smell, taste, touch) in the context of rigorous scientific studies. Thus, its use to support the "Senses" body system is justified by tradition, not by robust scientific validation. The traditional evidence is moderate in the context of TCM, but direct scientific support for this particular application is minimal.
