Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) is a hormone primarily produced during pregnancy, but it is also used clinically for several indications, including certain reproductive and endocrine disorders. Regarding its use to support or treat low sex drive (libido), the evidence is limited but rooted in its physiological effects on sex hormone production.

hCG acts as an analog to luteinizing hormone (LH) and can stimulate the testes in men to produce testosterone. Since low testosterone levels are associated with decreased libido in men, hCG can indirectly help restore sex drive by boosting endogenous testosterone production, particularly in cases of hypogonadism or after cessation of anabolic steroid use. Several small clinical studies and case reports suggest that hCG therapy can improve testosterone levels and, by extension, libido in men with secondary hypogonadism. However, large-scale, long-term randomized controlled trials specifically designed to measure changes in sex drive are lacking. Use in women for libido is much less studied and not well established.

hCG is not commonly used solely for treatment of low libido unless it is linked to a diagnosed hormone deficiency. Its use for this indication is considered off-label and should be medically supervised. Therefore, while there is a plausible physiological rationale and some supporting evidence, the overall scientific validation for hCG as a libido enhancer is modest and not universally accepted.
