Nux Vomica is primarily used to support the stomach and digestive system within the context of traditional medicine, especially homeopathy and certain herbal traditions. Historically, extracts from the seeds of the Strychnos nux-vomica tree have been used in very small, highly diluted forms to address symptoms such as indigestion, bloating, nausea, and constipation. In homeopathy, Nux Vomica is often recommended for individuals who experience gastrointestinal disturbances due to overeating, excessive alcohol consumption, or stress. However, these uses are rooted in traditional and anecdotal practices rather than robust scientific evidence.

There is a lack of high-quality clinical trials or scientific studies that validate Nux Vomica’s efficacy in supporting stomach health. The raw seeds themselves are highly toxic due to strychnine and brucine content, and are not safe for direct consumption.
