Brassica vegetables (such as broccoli, cabbage, kale, and Brussels sprouts) have been studied for their potential effects on lipid profiles, including triglycerides. Some scientific evidence suggests that the consumption of Brassica vegetables may have a modest benefit on serum triglyceride levels, primarily due to their high fiber content, antioxidant properties, and presence of bioactive compounds like glucosinolates and polyphenols. Several observational studies have noted an association between higher intake of cruciferous vegetables and improved cardiovascular risk factors, including lower triglyceride levels. However, randomized controlled trials specifically examining Brassica supplementation or increased intake for the treatment of hypertriglyceridemia are limited and often yield mixed results. Meta-analyses of dietary interventions that include Brassica vegetables sometimes report small but statistically significant reductions in triglycerides, but the effect size tends to be modest and may not be clinically meaningful for individuals with significantly elevated triglycerides.
