Eucommia (Eucommia ulmoides), also known as Du Zhong in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), has a long history of use primarily for supporting the musculoskeletal system, particularly for strengthening bones, tendons, and the lower back. In TCM, it is sometimes included in formulas to support kidney health, and in TCM theory, the kidneys are believed to govern the urinary system as well as aspects of reproductive and adrenal function. Thus, by supporting "kidney" health, eucommia is indirectly thought to support the urinary system. However, this is based on TCM philosophy rather than the anatomical kidney or urinary tract as understood in Western medicine.
