How it works
Maintaining good eye health is a prime concern, particularly as we age. Free-radical damage can become apparent in the eyes through the development of cataracts or macular degeneration. Vitabase Vision Support is designed to provide key nutrients known to help support eye health.
Vitamin A (beta-carotene), lutein, and lycopene all belong to a group of chemicals called carotenoids. In plants, carotenoids are responsible for their color. They are also important to our health because of their antioxidant properties.
Lutein and another carotenoid form the pigment in the center of the retina. Studies indicate lutein may be critical to healthy vision.
Lycopene is another nutrient widely believed to support eye health.
Grape seed extract is a great source of powerful antioxidants known as oligomeric proanthocyanidins (OPCs). OPCs are highly effective antioxidants that scavenge free-oxygen radicals more effectively than vitamins C and E.
Quercetin is also a flavonoid with antioxidant properties. Its ability to scavenge free radicals contributes to the prevention and treatment of several eye disorders.
N-acetyl-L-cysteine (NAC) is a form of the amino acid cysteine. NAC helps to break down mucus and detoxify the body. Early studies indicate NAC may help prevent development of cataracts and macular degeneration.
