Mega Pre

MegaPre is a capsule-form prebiotic supplement designed to selectively nourish keystone bacterial species in the gut. It is intended for adults and children ages 4 and older who want to support a diverse and resilient gut microbiome, and is formulated to work as a standalone prebiotic or in conjunction with MegaSporeBiotic as part of Microbiome Labs' Total Gut Restoration protocol. Unlike broad-spectrum prebiotic fibers that feed a wide and indiscriminate range of gut bacteria, MegaPre is positioned as a Precision Prebiotic — one formulated specifically to increase populations of bacteria with well-documented roles in gut barrier integrity, immune regulation, and metabolic health.

The formula contains a proprietary blend of three non-digestible oligosaccharide fibers, each derived from a distinct, non-GMO source: fructooligosaccharides (FOS) from green and gold kiwifruit, xylooligosaccharides (XOS) from corn cob, and galactooligosaccharides (GOS) from rBST-free cow's milk. Each fiber class has been studied independently for its prebiotic effects, and together they provide complementary substrate specificity — meaning different beneficial bacterial strains can preferentially ferment different fiber fractions. This multi-fiber approach is more likely to support broad microbial diversity than a single-fiber prebiotic product. The fibers are non-digestible, meaning they pass through the small intestine intact and arrive in the colon where resident bacteria can ferment them.

The three keystone bacterial species MegaPre is designed to support — Akkermansia muciniphila, Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, and Bifidobacterium species — are among the most clinically studied beneficial bacteria in the human gut. Akkermansia muciniphila is associated with healthy gut barrier function and metabolic regulation, while Faecalibacterium prausnitzii is one of the most abundant butyrate-producing bacteria in a healthy colon and is frequently depleted in individuals with inflammatory gut conditions.
