MegaPre

MegaPre Powder is a mixable prebiotic supplement designed to selectively nourish keystone bacterial species in the gut. It delivers the same Precision Prebiotic formula as MegaPre capsules in a format that can be stirred into 16 ounces of cold water or another liquid of choice. It is intended for adults and children ages 4 and older who want to support a diverse and resilient gut microbiome, and is commonly used as a standalone prebiotic or alongside MegaSporeBiotic as part of Microbiome Labs' Total Gut Restoration protocol.

The formula contains a proprietary blend of three non-digestible oligosaccharide fibers, each sourced from a distinct non-GMO origin: fructooligosaccharides (FOS) from green and gold kiwifruit, xylooligosaccharides (XOS) from corn cob, and galactooligosaccharides (GOS) from rBST-free cow's milk. Each fiber class has been studied independently for its prebiotic effects, and together they provide complementary substrate specificity — meaning different beneficial bacterial strains can preferentially ferment different fiber fractions. Because these fibers are non-digestible, they pass through the small intestine intact and arrive in the colon where resident bacteria can ferment them into short-chain fatty acids.

The three keystone species MegaPre is formulated to support — Akkermansia muciniphila, Faecalibacterium prausnitzii, and Bifidobacterium species — are among the most clinically studied beneficial bacteria in the human gut. Akkermansia muciniphila is associated with healthy gut barrier function and metabolic regulation. Faecalibacterium prausnitzii is one of the most abundant butyrate-producing bacteria in a healthy colon and is frequently depleted in individuals with inflammatory gut conditions. Bifidobacteria contribute broadly to immune modulation, competitive exclusion of pathogenic organisms, and the production of acetate and lactate. Published research using MegaSporeBiotic and MegaPre in combination demonstrated promotion of microbial diversity in the transverse and descending colon, along with increased production of acetate, propionate, and butyrate — the three primary short-chain fatty acids that fuel colonocytes and support intestinal barrier integrity.
