Hi there. Ive recently started taking some evening primrose oil pills to help with a skin condition. I was just wondering, is there any chance these could be reacting with my PCOS pill metformin? Thanks

I do not foresee any potential interactions between the Evening Primrose Oil and your Metformin.  There is nothing in the literature to suggest that this is a possibility.  In fact, Evening Primrose Oil is something I commonly prescribe for women with PCOS.  It is known to naturally help improve the balance between progesterone and estrogen.  An elevated ratio of Estrogen to Progesterone is commonly seen in women with PCOS (a condition referred to as Estrogen Dominance).  The based way to determine if this is an issue for you is to find a doctor that will use a saliva test to assess your hormone levels.  A Naturopathic Physician or a Medical Doctor who specializes in holistic medicine are the best resource for this kind of specialized evaluation.  Saliva testing seems to be far more accurate when trying to detect certain aspects of hormone imbalance.  When used in conjunction with appropriate blood testing it can be a very valuable tool for addressing health concerns caused by a hormonal imbalance.
