Sinopsis

Hydrastis canadensis, comúnmente conocida como goldenseal, es una hierba perenne nativa de los bosques de América del Norte, especialmente la región de los Apalaches. Es muy apreciada por su rizoma de color amarillo brillante, que contiene potentes alcaloides—principalmente berberina, hidrastina y canadina—responsables de sus efectos antimicrobianos, antiinflamatorios, astringentes y de apoyo inmunológico. El rizoma y la raíz son las partes medicinales principales y generalmente se secan y se usan en tinturas, cápsulas, tés o ungüentos tópicos.

El goldenseal es mejor conocido por su papel como antimicrobiano natural de amplio espectro, utilizado para combatir infecciones bacterianas, fúngicas y parasitarias.
