Sinopsis

Yerba mate (Ilex paraguariensis) es un árbol de hoja perenne con cafeína originario de América del Sur, especialmente Paraguay, Argentina, el sur de Brasil y Uruguay. Sus hojas se preparan tradicionalmente en una bebida estimulante conocida simplemente como "mate", apreciada por sus efectos energizantes, la claridad mental y su rico contenido antioxidante. La yerba mate contiene cafeína, teobromina y teofilina—tres metilxantinas que actúan como estimulantes del sistema nervioso central y broncodilatadores—así como polifenoles, saponinas y ácido clorogénico, que contribuyen a sus propiedades promotoras de la salud.

La yerba mate se usa comúnmente para mejorar la concentración mental, combatir la fatiga y apoyar la digestión.
