Sinopsis
El pie de atleta es una infección fúngica contagiosa que afecta la piel de los pies, más comúnmente entre los dedos. Es causada por hongos dermatofitos, el mismo tipo que causa la tiña corporal y la tiña inguinal. Esta condición prospera en ambientes cálidos y húmedos, como vestuarios, duchas y el interior de los zapatos.
El pie de atleta se presenta típicamente con picazón, ardor, piel agrietada, descamación, o ampollas. Aunque generalmente es leve, puede volverse crónico, propagarse a otras partes del cuerpo (manos, ingle, uñas), o provocar infecciones bacterianas secundarias si no se trata.
